You don't want to touch me,
I can see it in your eyes,
Whatever I've done,
Whatever I said,
Completely changed you in that instant,
The way you look at me now,
I feel so alone,
So lost and confused,
And yet, you won't hold me,
Give me the closeness that I need,
You're on our bed, your back to me,
I'm at the door, ready to leave,
I want to touch you,
Sit beside you and hold you,
Tell you, I'm sorry, I love you,
but neither of us move,
all we needed was to be,
Courageous, to ask why and apologise,
I pause, almost in sympathy,
but as I gather my clothes,
and walk down the hallway,
you don't even look back,
to see me, one last time.
