Ars Longa Vita Brevis

Relentless human struggle to hold on,
To the feelings that always slip from our embrace
And continue to fade until gone,
Vanishing without a seeming trace.

Leave us with nothing but a memory,
The innermost of human emotion will yield,
To the shifting perplexity of times authority,
It seems our fate is sealed.

Emanating from our fleeting sensations,
Artwork granting feeling physicality,
Something we can grasp on to, our creations,
Seizing the passion of our reality.

For art is long and life is short,
Every eloquent stroke of a brush,
And each pencil drawn thought,
Will assist in retaining the memory
Of how self and subject vanish in each overwhelming moment,
Of love, loss and intimacy.
