We Were All There, Alone, Together

I am sitting in the restaurant. Three elderly men sit, separately, in my line of sight. All alone. I wonder to myself, what brings them here? Are they trying to avoid wives or family? Are they mulling over their day at work? Are they bored and trying to kill time, as I often am?

While I have been writing this, one has up and left; the second, a few minutes later. Finished my meal, I prepare to leave, the third man alone, unaware I have been thinking of him.
