Ciao Dad

This be a brief note
a note to tell you
and for me to remember
that I feel so sad right now.

We knew you would
leave us one day.
We knew
it was coming.

That day came
and the next few
days went.

The feeling of sadness
hit me.
It hit me hard.

You taught me a lot
over the years.
You are still teaching me
now.

You are teaching me
sadness
and grief.

You are teaching me
sadness and grief
are in some sort of way
important.

I'll get over the
grief.
I'll always be a little bit sad.

What I don't want to forget,
is how I feel
right now.

Thanks for everything,
lots of love,
and a big teary

Ciao!

Your son, Doon. Xx

(Dec11, 2008 ten days after dad died.)
