Loss and Love

He died on Christmas Eve as it turned into Christmas Day.
I don't want to hear what you are going to say. The voice on the phone told me anyway.
We had the presents, the turkey and the Christmas tree.
Happy Christmas people say, Happy Christmas even when your Dad is dead.
I didn't cry, I wondered why. Was I heartless, did I not love him?
Something drove me to go back to England and for six months we planned it.
Are you guys okay an SMS from my niece. Why shouldn't we be? It was the day before we flew out to revisit his homeland.
There is a volcano in Iceland she told me. As we spoke I checked the Net and there it was, a cloud of volcanic ash closing down my airport.
Then I thought I would never stop crying. I'm not heartless and I did love him.
