Stop.
Stop pulling at me.
I know you are there.
The swollen shadows of
Your red dresses
Drag me under
And lead me down.
The day fades.
I am come undone.
Cheek to jowl
We tumble around.
Tidal embraces,
Whet this fool's crown,
And caught high in the sail,
Your black breath
Sucks from my lung.
Oh Lord! Draw me on!
Draw me on.
Outwitted and outmatched.
Judas limbs flail,
Try to avoid Lucifer's tail,
And always your flank,
Thrumming our merciless song.
Mon Dieu! I am gone!
I am gone!
But for the sun.
Seeping through
My fingered curtain.
Come love, one last lash,
Before we move on.
Damnable light.
You have won.
You have won.
