Swallowed by a shark

Last night I had a distressing dream about being swallowed by a shark. I had gone to the ocean with our white kitchen knife and severed my carotid artery, burying my legs in rocks. A great white got whiff and came to taste, accidentally swallowing me in the struggle that ensued. Using my leg as a jack, there was just enough space to breath inside his belly, where, kitchen knife in hand, I began to carve a rounded-square shape window out of his back. In confusion and fierce thrashing at the strange pain tunneling from his insides, the great white swam toward the surface. Dislodging the hacked shape from the roof of the fish, I climbed out, and with my last vestige of strength I clung to his dorsal fin as he raged towards the rocky shore. Maddened by the struggle, drained of his blood, his urge billowed out in astonished grief, and he died.

I sat beside him in shock and in sorrow, having survived the day in spite of my own resolve and this great beast.
