Memories of Laughter

I look for you in the black corners, always the memory of your last presence A bundle of clothes swaying darkly.
I look for you on the streets with your head high Your hand gently holding your daughter's small one Your laughter flying skywards.

I can tell you've been present when I see your glorious daughter Living, loving, laughing, crying.
I think I once saw you in a dream, alive, vibrant, laughing still.
Now you lie, sharing a space with your father A bowl of ashes beneath the sticky clay.
