The mistake I made about falling in love, Was thinking that this was it.
No one could steal away my dove,
My peace, my hearts open crypt.
The desire I felt,
The lessons I learned,
Did not match all that I saw.
My innocence, loving and doting ways,
Left me empty, begging for more.
He left me once,
To sail the seas,
I cried a sea myself.
The ship not sailed,
Confusion hailed,
Draining both our once pure health.
Distance reigned,
Happiness I feigned,
But truly broken was my heart.
This man I loved,
My one true dove,
Had started to rip me apart.
Although he did heal,
Over time to reveal,
His newly strengthened mind and wits,
My body crumbled,
My mind, it tumbled,
Deep into an unearthly darkened twist.
To see him again,
Like two strangers who meet,
But know others' face so well.
The feelings I felt,
So strange that I dealt,
With others, and extras ignored.
As here I was,
With my lonely white dove,
The man I had once so adored.
But the feelings not shake,
For they truly gave shape,
To the amount of pain he had caused.
Kisses too brief,
Embraces so shallow,
My heart swooned, not with reverence,
But at the pure coldness,
And increasing distance,
At the dove's missing benevolence.
I cried out in pain,
To a God whose last shame,
Was to tell me all Love is True.
The mistake I made about falling in love, Was falling in love, With you.
