Now You Have Cut Me Off

The flower that is plucked
like dreams cast into light
must wilt and cease to breathe
A stem when it is snapped
will drain the sap inside
to starve a hungry seed
The secrets that we sow
are nourished by our stealth
they wither and distort
if shared or talked about
Now you have cut me off
from all that fed my life
I cannot grow new love
if grief flows in my blood
Why should I choose to mate
when empty arms like promises
sprout bitterness and hate.
